A session on High Performance Computing is conducted in VVIT, Nambur by Dr. V. C. V. Rao, CDAC, Associate Director. The resource person Dr. V. C. V. Rao explained the need of Artificial Intelligence, Data Mining and Deep learning. He further added saying right from 1st B. Tech aspirants should develop interest towards algorithms and data structures for which mathematics knowledge is desired. His demonstration involved High Performance Computing (HPC) and its role in both scientific advancement , economic competitiveness of a nation - making production of scientific and industrial solutions faster, less expensive, and of higher quality. HPC applications: designing vehicles and airplanes; designing high-rise buildings and bridges; discovery of drugs; discovery and extraction of new energy sources like oil and natural gas; weather forecasting; and many more.
The guest of honor Dr. V. C. V. Rao also explained the supercomputer applications such as Computational Atmospheric Science, Computational Biology and computational sciences .He introduced students the concepts of message passing through MPI (message passing interface) ,open Mp and insisted students to learn graph theory.
Sri Vasireddy Vidya Sagar, Chairman of VIVA-VVIT Institutions, advised the students to keep abreast of the emerging trends in technology to have green pastures of life. He emphasized that their institute always ponders over the continuous upgradation of technological knowledge for the faculty members and students in Computer Science, Information Technology, which are most rapidly changing over the other engineering branches.
Dr.Y.Mallikarjuna Reddy, Principal of the host institute, VVIT, in this regard, informed that this kind of training programs will update the faculty and fulfill their thirst for advanced technology. He suggested the students to keep pace with the latest technology to have a smooth take off.
