An extra-ordinary Bihu dance performance was conducted  in the institute today by SPIC-MACAY (Society for Promotion of Indian Classic Music And Culture Amongst Youth) New Delhi, under the aegis of Cultural, Dance and Music Clubs of VVIT.

A team of 8 members lead by popular Bihu Dancer Sri Ranjit Gagoye, exhibited their scintillating performance in Bihu dance, which is a popular Assami folk style of dance. VVIT and its VIVA-the-school-by VVIT are always a step-ahead to explore every corner of our Indian culture and its heritage to bring up their students as comprehensive Indian Citizens.

SPIC-MACAY as everyone knows, is a voluntary movement striving to bring an awareness of the rich cultural heritage of our country to youth and children. Artists of repute perform in educational institutions. Classical Music, both Hindustani and Carnatic, Vocal and instrumental;  Classical Dance forms of India, folk music and folk dances from all over India, traditional handicrafts and paintings and Yoga are introduced to the students.

 This Bihu dance has been performed and appreciated in various countries such as Russia, South Africa, Reunion Islands, Mauritius, Bhutan, Germany, Australia, New Zeeland, Malaysia, Indonesia, Switzerland and many more countries. Today, such an internationally exhibited and popular dance performance, was witnessed and cherished by VVIT Students.

On this occasion the chief guest Sri Ranjit Gagoi said  that traditional dance is a symbol of each country & it shows history and belief of Nation and it is the best way to introduce our country and culture to entire world. He commended the efforts of VVIT’S Cultural, Dance & Music Clubs for taking it as a responsibility to keep and convey it to next generations whilst helping their students to overcome any sort of undue pressures caused in their academic and professional lives by practicing these arts.

Principal of the host institute Dr.Y.Mallikharjuna Reddy, informed that VVIT always ponders about the all round development of their students morally and materially in terms of personality development and keeping them physically and psychologically healthy.

The entire team of artists is felicitated by Sri Sagar and management of VVIT as a token of respect towards the great effort they are doing under the SPIC-MACAY for the proliferation of ruining Indian cultural heritage to the posterity.
